Tits McGee
I'm finished with the 2010 Phoenix Comic Convention. It was an excellent time.
Tim Bradstreet was there, and we talked a lot. He was the nicest, coolest guy in the world. Lots of good, practical advice, awesome attitude, and just a helluva nice guy. He's always been one of my all-time favorite illustrators. Right up there with Virgil Finlay and Frank Frazetta!
James Marsters (Spike on the Buffy and Angel series) was there, too, and he was a really cool guy. Nicer than he should really be, but there it is.
Also met Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood, both from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, and they were much more talkative than I expected (and old and cranky, the both of them, but I can't say I blame them). Got 'em to sign a publicity still to add to my Kubrick stuff. Cool beans, all around.
I saw Lou Ferrigno again, but didn't talk to him again for the second year in a row, for fear he'll crush me with his Hulk-strength. Anybody want a peanut?
Stan Lee, of all people, is supposed to be there today (Sunday) doing a panel and signing autographs, but I'm just too tired of the wall-to-wall people and the hustle and bustle of the Con to go see him. Which is too bad, 'cause he's the coolest, but oh well. Mental health comes first.
Following the Con last night, I enjoyed a free pass from a friend to go see Lucio Fulci's 1979 craptastic masterpiece Zombie (or Zombi 2, or Zombie Flesh Eaters if you'd like) on the silver-freakin'-screen in a beautiful, seemingly-uncut 35 millimeter print. It had Dutch subtitles, but who cares? It was uncut and huge and awesome! I'd forgotten how truly awesome the zombie-versus-shark scene is, and the splinter-in-the-eyeball scene, and the... oh, it's all just so wonderful. That movie is made out of Awesome. Actually, aside from meeting Tim Bradstreet, Zombie was the highlight of the weekend!
Well, a good Memorial Day weekend all in all. And it's not even over yet! Who'd'a thunk it?

People Meat
I Have A Beef: Law Abiding Citizen
I just saw Law Abiding Citizen, and it made me dumber.
Jamie Foxx plays an attorney for the city of Philadelphia - not a detective, or a private investigator, although you'd never know it. At one point the Mystical Mayor of Philly actually appoints him the magical District Attorney of Philly at a Super Secret Midnight Meeting before single-handedly putting the city under martial law due to an incredibly low-level threat. And this is only one of the less-stupid things about this movie.
This movie is just plain painful for anyone who knows anything whatsoever about the United States' judicial system.
ARRRGH! Why did a 12-year-old watch an episode of CSI:Miami and decide to use all of his or her knowledge of law to write Law Abiding Citizen? It plumbs the depths of stupidity! ARRRRGH!
All this being said, there is a really cool death By cellphone (????) moment in the film, not to mention multiple magical exploding cars.
And Philadelphia's District Attorney Jamie Foxx does, indeed utter the line, "fuck his civil rights" regarding the chief suspect (Gerard Butler) in the case Foxx is, for some reason, investigating prior to breaking and entering and discovering all sorts of ridiculous evidence against said suspect that would then be rendered completely inadmissable in court.
So I guess the movie has being retarded going for it, at the very least.
Avoid this thing at all costs, unless you're an absolute moron.
I'm not even that smart, and even I know that this movie is a fucking stupid pile of shit. I can't imagine what the rest of the populace thinks of this travesty.
Ugh. I'm almost completely done watching movies at this point.

Legend of the Lost Boobies
New Moleskine sketchbook double-page spread above.
Below are a bunch of drawings I did about a year ago in a retired sketchbook. For one reason or another, I never scanned or posted them. Not sure why, because I was flipping through it and I really liked these selections. I hardly remember drawing any of them, but I think each one is pretty decent in its own way. Enjoy the boobness.

Frazetta
One of my favorite artists of all time - if not my very favorite - has died today. Rest in peace, Frank Frazetta.
