Again With The Margins 2
I finished yet another sketchbook yesterday! Boy, this at-least-one-drawing-a-day thing is really paying off. This particular sketchbook is a rather large one called "Naked Ladies" I started way back on October 5, 2008. Guess what I've been drawing in it? On January 1st, 2009 I made sure to start drawing at least one nudie picture every single day. Some are pretty good, some are pretty bad, and some are really fucking horrendous. But it was a fun time all the same, and now I have 100 pages of Naked Ladies, and that's pretty darn hot. Yay for discipline! Now if I could only figure out a way to do this crap for a living...

Above is the counterpart to yesterday's drawing.
However, if you'll look below, it looks a lot cooler with yesterday's drawing juxtaposing today's as the double-page spread in my Moleskine sketchbook.
Neat-o, huh?

Renaissance HUZZAH!
Went to my first Renaissance Festival over the weekend. It was a blast, though I got a wee bit sunburned. Lots of saying "HUZZAH" loudly and without fear. And lots of lasses with ye olde heaving bosoms. A good time had by all, I must say.

Run
I tried watching the terrible mess that is MAX PAYNE. Ugh. How boring and mindlessly convulted and terribly uninteresting and poorly put-together it is. Sure, it looked beautiful (what decent-budgeted movie doesn't nowadays?), but it was a pile of shit. Did anyone even actually read the screenplay before starting to make the movie? Was there a screenplay at all? Or was everyone just winging it? What a waste.
On an upnote, though, I watched Abel Ferrara's 1981 rape/revenge masterpiece MS.45 and it's freakin' fantastic. Nobody makes 'em like that anymore. Nobody.

Peekaboo
Did I miss something? Or is it Friday the 13th for the second month in a row? Can this horrible trend continue? Are they releasing another ass-tastic FRIDAY THE 13th film today in theaters nationwide?
No?
So I should just expect bad luck is all?
Well, okay. As long as there's not another brand new/remake/sequel/craptacular FRIDAY THE 13th film in theaters right now, then I suppose everything else will be fine in the world.

Margins 2 and WATCHMEN
I just got back from a late screening of WATCHMEN. It's very, very, very good. In fact, probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. It is based on one of the best graphic novels I've ever read. Yes, there are few changes and discrepancies between the two, but they are minor and changed in the interest of brevity (which is good, considering the movie is still pretty long - the graphic novel is one of the most dense and detailed reads in the comic world).
All I'll really say about the movie is that I thought it was a perfect adaptation, not far removed from, say, the SIN CITY adaptation or even the Lord of the Rings films. It was true to the source and enhanced it where possible.
I remember reading Watchmen several years ago and thinking "Man, who the hell are they ever going to get to play Dr. Manhattan?" Billy Crudup, that's who. He's absolutely perfect. Oh, and the guy they got to play Rorshach looks JUST LIKE the dude in the comic book. And he's fantastic in the movie. Freakin' fantastic.
Of course, the sticklers aren't going to pleased with a few details here or there, I'm sure - I must say it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Watch WATCHMEN, people. It's fantastically good. I'd say the best superhero movie ever right next to THE DARK KNIGHT.

Margins
Above are some of the doodles I draw in the margins at work. I've wiped most of the actual "work" from the doodles, as it's just incomprehensible numbers and figures that wouldn't make any sense anyway - and I suppose it would be entirely illegal to post the confidential information to boot. But I do quite a few little drawings here and there in the margins of the bulk of my work, and here are some of those. I'll post more tomorrow. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Stalin!
Had Joseph Stalin had a sense of humor, I'm almost certain he would have smoked from a bubble pipe instead of a real one. However, history recalls that he didn't have a sense of humor at all. And, therefore, he never utilized the wonderful bubble pipe. For shame!
Some people just need(ed) to lighten up.
Bubbles all around.
